Sprint champion Points Offthebench is euthanized

With one week to go before the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, tragedy struck Santa Anita race track on Saturday morning.
Points Offthebench, a winner of four consecutive races that was being prepared for the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, suffered a fractured leg during a workout and had to be euthanized.
The 4-year-old son of Benchmark won the Santa Anita Sprint Championship on Oct. 5.
