Following UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s record-setting 14-second title-fight win over Cat Zingano on Saturday, a video has surfaced with the 135-pound fighter from Venice recording an even faster victory against a man.
In an interview with MMAPrime.TV’s Aaron Tru from 2011, Rousey, wearing street clothes, was challenged by the MMA journalist.
“I’ve got to be honest, I don’t think you have enough strength to compete with a man,” Tru said.
Said Rousey: “You know how to push my buttons that’s exactly how to get me to throw you.”
The throw begins innocently enough with Rousey planting her foot in front of her larger male opponent, but as she tosses Tru into the air and toward a hard wooden floor you get the sense of immediate regret from his eyes.
Rousey then comes down hard on his chest crushing her opponent’s ribs.
“I’m sorry,” says Rousey, though her nervous laughter seemed to indicate genuine concern for the host.
“I felt my ribs break I think,” Tru says without getting up.
“I’m serious though, are you OK?” Rousey asks.
An unofficial victory to be sure, but we’d say Rousey (11-0) could pencil another win.
