Storm causes some disruption in Laguna

Laguna Beach’s marine safety department closed all of the city’s beaches for 30 minutes Monday morning because of lightning associated with a storm.
Beaches reopened at 8 a.m. as the storm produced 6- to 8-foot swells and “lots of wind,” said the department’s Lt. Kai Bond.
As of 10:30 a.m., Laguna had received about one-quarter inch of rain, according to the County of Orange website.
A power loss knocked out a traffic signal at Cress Street and South Coast Highway for about an hour, but Laguna Beach police are not sure if the storm caused the outage, Sgt. Tim Kleiser wrote in an email.
