Third Street hill will be closed as part of sewer work

The Third Street hill will be closed in both directions through March 30 so crews can pour a new layer of concrete.
The work is part of a larger project to replace aged sewer lines in areas east of downtown Laguna. The new concrete “provides the highest degree of surface traction,” according to a news release.
A majority of work should be finished by the end of the first week in April, but intermittent lane closures on Third Street and Loma Terrace during daytime hours will occur, the release said.
The westbound lane of Mermaid Street, between Second and Glenneyre streets, will remain closed through March.
