Seattle kicks off its first Museum Month in February with this offer: Stay at a downtown hotel and receive 50% off museum admissions. It’s a great opportunity to explore museums and cultural centers big and small -- and save money too.
The deal: Here’s how Seattle Museum Month works: You receive a Museum Guest Pass that’s good at more than 40 museums and attractions in the area when you stay at a downtown hotel (more on which ones below). The pass is good for up to four people.
Participating museums include the Chihuly Garden and Glass on the grounds of the Space Needle, which displays the amazing blown-glass creations of Tacoma, Wash.-born Dale Chihuly. Admission usually costs $18 for adults.
The pop-culture EMP museum also accepts the pass for a discount on its admission price of $20 to $22 for adults. (The discount doesn’t apply to special exhibitions.)
For this deal, you have to stay at one of 54 hotels in a variety of price ranges. It includes brands such as Best Western and Travelodge as well as Four Seasons and the Fairmont.
For example, you could spend less than $100 for a room at the Belltown Inn at 2301 3rd Ave. or around $200 a night to stay at the Arctic Club Seattle (a DoubleTree) at 700 3rd Ave. to qualify for a Museum Guest Pass.
When: The offer is good Feb. 1 to 28.
Details: This is a good deal for families who want to explore Seattle with children. Some kid-friendly museums on the list are free; others that accept the discount pass include the Seattle Aquarium, Woodland Park Zoo and Museum of Flight.
LeMay - America’s Car Museum in Tacoma and the Kids Discovery Museum on Bainbridge Island also honor the pass.
