Mother’s Day freebies: San Diego museum ticket and frozen yogurt
- Share via
If you’re struggling to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift, consider items that don’t come wrapped in a box. Free museum admission and free frozen yogurt can keep the fun factor up and expenses down.
Deal 1: Moms will get in free with a child’s paid admission Sunday at the San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. Adult tickets usually cost $17 per adult; children 3 to 12 cost $11; and children 2 and younger get in free. The fine print says one free adult with a child’s ticket per party, so the deal applies to grandmas and great-grandmas too.
Current exhibitions at the museum, which is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, include “All That Glitters: The Splendor and Science of Gems and Minerals”; “Fossil Mysteries,” about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures; and paintings by Sunna Bohlen at the museum’s Ordover Gallery in a show called “Inspiration of the Natural World.” Contact: San Diego Natural History Museum, (619) 232-3821.
Deal 2: TCBY frozen yogurt stands (some of them inside airports) will give moms, grandmas and great-grandmas a free cup or cone of frozen yogurt Sunday in honor of Mother’s Day. Whether you’re on the road with Mom or staying put in Southern California, you can probably find a TCBY shop to collect your freebie. (Dads: Don’t panic; the same offer is good on Father’s Day.)
