Bill Engvall, still ‘hating stupid people,’ to appear at Treasure Island

Reporting from Las Vegas — What goes with Nascar racing better than blue collar comedy?

Bill Engvall, a regular at Treasure Island Las Vegas for the past five years, returns to headline right before the 2015 Kobalt 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race the first weekend in March.

Just as the cars getting ready to battle it out on the 1.5-mile tri-oval at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Engvall sashays on stage to deliver his signature, “I just hate stupid people. They should just have to wear signs” repertoire.

An example of Engvall’s humor: He takes aim at the warning signs on Preparation H saying not to take it orally.

“You know somebody sent them a letter,” the comedian says. “Dear, Preparation H. I ate this whole dang tube. I still got these hemorrhoids. Man, my mouth’s so small, I can’t eat a jellybean anymore. But I can whistle really good.”

Engvall broke out in 1992 on “Delta” with Delta Burke and later with performances on “The Jeff Foxworthy Show.”

After that, he created the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” with friend and fellow comedian Foxworthy. They went on tour and included performers Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. In 2013, he was fourth runner up on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Engvall hits the Treasure Island Theatre stage at 9 p.m. March 6. Tickets start at $59.95.
