Reporting from Las Vegas — Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters took over Las Vegas with their entourages and celebration parties over the weekend during the UFC Fan Expo.
UFC featherweight Conor McGregor took his celebration to Foxtail at the SLS Las Vegas following his win over Chad Mendes. The Irish fighter partied with UFC chiefs Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta after knocking out Mendes less than five minutes into the second round.
McGregor showed off his new belt to fans, including ring girl Arianny Celeste, on the red carpet before draping himself in an Irish flag as he entered the club. While technically an interim win for McGregor, he seemed anxious to take on seven-time defending champion Jose Aldo for the undisputed crown.
UFC champion Daniel Cormier hosted a party at Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas on Friday night to celebrate the Fan Expo, which brought fight fans to the city for exhibitions, fighter autograph and training sessions, special events and competitions.
Cormier, the light heavyweight champion, returned to Las Vegas only months after his UFC 182 victory against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
Cormier arrived shortly after midnight with an entourage of friends including Sacramento Kings small forward Rudy Gay.
