Reporting from Las Vegas — Country singer Blake Shelton saw talent in Craig Wayne Boyd. He picked him for his team on season seven of “The Voice,” and the country artist went on to win. Now Boyd comes to Las Vegas for a one-night show Nov. 6 at Club Madrid inside Sunset Station.
Boyd picked up the guitar and started singing at age 4 in his hometown of Mesquite, Texas. He moved to Nashville with hopes of making it big nearly 10 years ago.
He did, in a sense, as a songwriter and then opening for singers Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson and Brantley Gilbert for four years before appearing on the show.
Since winning the $100,000 prize and recording contract in December, Boyd released “I’m Still Here” and should release his first album by this November.
It includes his debut single “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” a song originally written for Shelton and given to Boyd to perform during the finals on “The Voice.” The song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles, was an instant fan favorite and locked the win for the singer.
Tickets start at $20 and go on sale Friday.
Tickets: Ticketmaster, (800) 745-3000
