Think Las Vegas can’t get cold? Think again at these 5 chilly places

Reporting from Las Vegas — Las Vegas gets less than 1inch of snow annually, making it seem far less like winter at this time of year. But fear not; Vegas can cover you with cold if you’re just willing to look. Have a chillingly good time at these five cold experiences in Las Vegas.
Get chilly surrounded by 100% Canadian ice stored at minus five degrees inside the frosty Minus5 Ice Bar at Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo hotel-casinos. Everything — the walls, seats and even the glasses — is made of ice. Ice carvers swap out frigid sculptures every six to eight weeks, so there’s always something new to discover. Right now? It’s a winter wonderland assortment of sculptures from the North Pole. Don one of the insulated jackets, gloves and boots and sip on vodka libations served in sculpted ice glasses.
The long, cold winters of Russia get their due at Red Square at Mandalay Bay, where a giant headless statue of Vladimir Lenin -- complete with faux bird droppings -- stands guard outside the Russian restaurant. A sub-zero vault keeps more than 200 vodkas cold inside the ice bar, best sampled while wearing a Russian army jacket or fur coat in the -10 degree room.
Book a spa treatment at Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace for a bit of snow. The Romans baths there feature a 55-degree Arctic Ice Room with ice chips meant for skin exfoliation. Snow falls from the domed ceiling, and bathers can collect it in small bowls. Even the air is infused with mint to keep it cool.
The Resort on Mount Charleston
Only 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the Resort on Mount Charleston sits in the mountains of the Toiyabe National Forest. Temperatures there are 20 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, and each guest room overlooks mountain peaks. Stop by A Cut Above for dining with a view, or grab a beer at the classic chalet-style bar.
