Korenstein, Romey Invited to Air Issues

The first--and probably the last--forum featuring candidates for the West San Fernando Valley seat on the Los Angeles Board of Education is scheduled tonight at Balboa Elementary School in Northridge.
Julie Korenstein and Barbara Romey, who will face each other in the June 2 election, have been invited to speak and answer questions at the 7:30 p.m. meeting. The school is at 17020 Labrador St. The forum is sponsored by the 31st District PTSA, a parent, teacher and student group that serves the entire San Fernando Valley.
Korenstein and Romey have been invited to several candidate forums during the runoff campaign, but each time one of them has declined. PTSA officials said Korenstein has agreed to attend tonight’s meeting, but that Romey has not yet made a commitment.
