Cutting the State Budget

The editorial “Another Fine Mess” (July 4) once again took the California Legislature to task for not fulfilling its responsibility to the taxpayers. As you said about the Assembly, it “once again could do nothing right.”
Nevertheless, at election time, The Times has recommended the reelection of almost all the incumbents. Perhaps you should suggest that voters elect a whole new group of men and women who might provide “what taxpayers have a right to expect from government.” The proliferation of initiatives, is the result, in part, of inaction by the Legislature.
