Helen Davis Pepperdine, 87, who helped her husband found what is now Pepperdine University. A native of Muncie, Ind., Mrs. Pepperdine moved to Los Angeles with her family in 1919 and was working as a photographer when she met George Pepperdine, founder of the Western Auto Supply Stores. They married in 1934 and established George Pepperdine College in 1937. She was a life member of the Pepperdine Board of Regents and actively supported the university long after her husband’s death in 1962. On Friday in Los Angeles of heart failure.
