Principals Swap School Assignments

Harriet Hermann is new principal of Fern Drive Elementary School this fall, and Glenda Thompson is leading Maple Community Center Elementary--a job swap for the two seasoned veterans of the Fullerton School District.
Thompson was hired by the district in 1985 as a bilingual teacher at Richman Elementary School. She later served as an administrative assistant and developed the district’s first English as a second language program.
Officials said her background will make her a valuable asset to Maple, which is in a predominantly Latino neighborhood.
Hermann was hired 12 years ago as a media specialist and mentor teacher. She had been Maple’s principal since 1990.
Officials said the two women asked to swap assignments.
