Elementary school students can win prizes up to $1,000 in an upcoming essay contest by submitting a one-page essay titled “Why I am Thankful for my Teacher.”
Fifteen finalists will read their essays to a panel of journalists. The winner will receive a $1,000 savings bond, and awards of $250 each will be given to two other finalists.
Essays may be sent to “The Write Stuff,” 249 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, Calif., 90802. The deadline is Nov. 13. Information: (714) 491-1000.
