Two Golden West College employees have won local Emmy Awards for their work on a televised introductory biology course.
David Anthony, the college’s dean of fine and performing arts, and biology professor Bonnie Roohk received the awards for their work on “Cycles of Life: Exploring Biology.”
The course is offered through Golden West’s sister campus at Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, where the show was produced. It aired on KOCE-TV, a Public Broadcasting System affiliate based at the Huntington Beach campus of Golden West College.
Anthony composed the series’ musical score, and Roohk won for her camera work on a segment of time-lapse photography.
“This is a tremendously prestigious honor for Bonnie and Dave,” Margie Lewis, Golden West College’s vice president of instruction and student services, said in a statement. “We are absolutely thrilled for them. It’s really wonderful to see them rewarded for their efforts.”
