Five teachers from San Juan Capistrano schools were chosen Tuesday to compete for Capistrano Unified’s Teacher of the Year Award, officials said. Terry Antonius, Dottie George, Amy Duarte, Laurie Barnett and Sue Chance will compete against 36 other district teachers next month. Three winners will be chosen at that time--one each from the elementary, middle and high school level--and they will go on to compete in a countywide competition later this year.
