Learning disability specialist Richard Lavoie will speak on “Roots and Wings: Parenting the Disabled Child” on Dec. 2. Lavoie will discuss some of the intense and conflicting emotions parents experience while raising a child who has difficulty learning. The event is sponsored by the Prentice School, an independent nonprofit school for dyslexic students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The discussion will begin at 7 p.m. at Lake Hills Community Church, 23331 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills. The cost of admission is $10. Information: (714) 538-4511.
